Food

The object of food photography is simple: create appetite appeal. Maybe it’s because we’re foodies, but we always come away with something delicious.
Some food subjects are technical, like the donuts pictured above. Lots of culinary creations melt under the hot lights.
Other subjects need a composition of complimentary colors to bring out the excitement of the subject – the red of tomatoes or the pale hue of a martini.
Once again, we prefer to see subjects in context – on a bar, in a restaurant or market. We don’t like to see food in a studio or try to construct a simulacrum of reality.
