We had the pleasure last week of shooting Summer and Fall collections for menswear designer McKenzie Tribe.
The collections included jackets, jeans and shirts for men that transition from work to play. We shot at North Hills in Raleigh as our location.

Special thanks to North Hills.

WUNC, North Carolina’s public radio station, has always been new media savvy. From creating podcasts to developing a Flickr channel for “The State of Things,” Frank Stasio’s daily radio program, the station is always trying to figure out new ways to connect with its audience in a new media landscape.
I’m proud to be represented once again (the first time was in August 07) by my photograph “Dump Trucks at Davis & High House” as the SOT Picture of the Week.
I suppose this photo is newsworthy due to the pitched battle that was fought over the development of this land.
A grass roots public advocacy group, DavisAndHighHouse.org, formed to fight additional development at this corner in Cary. It proved a lightening rod for public dissatisfaction with development in general, tipping the balance in municpal elections. One term mayor Ernie McAlister was upset and slow-growth candidate Harold Weinbrecht took over in North Carolina’s sixth largest city (News & Observer, 10/9/07).
Slow growth may be in, but too late to roll back the tide at the corner of Davis & High House.
Special thanks to SmartGrowthGirl.com and to Dave DeWitt and Katy Barron at WUNC.

We just wrapped a new episode of StreetStyleTV. It’s a follow-up to our earlier show about “The World’s Coolest Sunglasses.”
The gang at Vision Park in Raleigh invited us to an eye wear trunk show. We saw the latest trends from OGI and JeeVice. We even had cupcakes with lemonade icing.
Special thanks to Elizabeth from Vision Park and Michele from the blog One Chic Mama.

Getting Hal in a skirt was easier than you might think. Skirt Magazine is a local tabloid for women and features interesting local women in business, community, and the arts. Once a month they do a story featuring an interesting chap and put him in a skirt.

Thanks to North Hills Buzz for featuring our video with Fiquet of Luxe on the latest edition of their home page. Where do they get this stuff? I guess that’s why it’s called Buzz.
Thanks also to our friends at North Hills and, of course, to Fiquet of Luxe Apothecary.
We’ll post our own story about the video shortly: How to make quality TV with a home video camcorder and a mic from yoor band.
Just a few stills from a new video for make-up maven Fiquet of Luxe Apothecary. This girl is gonna be a star, people!

A diverse group from around the Triangle gathered from out of the rain early in the morning. Ted Vaden (Public Editor) and Dan Barkin (Senior Editor/Online) led the discussion.

We all weighed in a bit on stories, reporting and coverage. Sometimes Dan & Ted explained why the N&O had made a certain decision. Other times, they wrote in their notebooks and laughed. In a good way, I think.
The panel members had some interesting questions:
Fascinating stuff. Of course, I just wanted to talk about the online component, but I’m a goat flying with swans so I mostly kept my mouth shut.
Best line - Barkin, commenting about why the paper doesn’t cover certain stuff:
“That’s not the straw that stirs the drink.”
I gotta use that.
If any of y’all have questions for the editors of the N&O, email me or send me a tweet.

In the Window, originally uploaded by hal990.
We used a different shot for the website, but this is my favorite from the shoot at Uniquities Mix.
